Summer Card Class - Week 4

I can't believe that this is the last week of the Summer Card Class. It's been so much fun working with new color combos. And it's helped bulk up my stash of cards.

I interpreted this weeks colors to include PTI's Simply Chartreuse, New Leaf, Hawaiian Shores, Aqua Mist, and White. Really pretty colors, but I was a little hesitant to add too much New Leaf to my card.

I used PTI's Dot Spot and Think Big Favorites #3. CAS was the name of the game this week. I'm looking forward to playing with more of the color combos in the next couple of weeks. Thanks for looking!

Summer Card Class - Week 3

It's week 3 for the Summer Card Class and, I'll be honest, I really wasn't excited about this weeks color combo. The color combos the last couple of weeks have been vibrant and scream 'summer'. This week the colors seem so muted--thank goodness for the pop of red!

I pulled out my PTI 'Little Bitty Bird' and the card kind of fell together. This is probably my very favorite PTI stamp set. I love the simple, rustic feel of the images and the font is a nice basic type.

Anyway, I interpreted this weeks colors to include PTI's Vintage Cream, Fine Linen, Kraft, Pure Poppy, and Dark Chocolate. The little birdies were cut from Pure Poppy felt with the Little Bitty Bird Die. I ran the Dark Chocolate cardstock through my Cuttlebug with the woodgrain impression plate (another favorite). Added a bit of Distressed Dots patterned paper, some Pure Poppy grosgrain ribbon, and little black rhinestones for the birdies eyes to complete the card.

Now that the card is finished, I think it might be one of my favorites. I'm truly enjoying this class and the color combos we're given. So happy I decided to participate. Thanks for looking!

Another Week 2 card

Okay, so after I finished my first card with this weeks colors, I thought of another card design that I wanted to try. I was inspired by a card made by the very talented Nichole Heady a couple of weeks ago and wanted to try something similar with this weeks colors. Here is the original blog post with the card . I love the simplicity and texture of the card. This is what I came up with--

I heat embossed the largest doily from the My Minds Eye Gertie 'Girly' stamps with Zing Embossing Powder. PTI cardstock colors in Summer Sunrise, Orange Zest, Pure Poppy, Simply Chartreuse, and New Leaf were cut into strips, adhered vertically on white cardstock and cut into horizontal strips. I added them on top of the doily with pop dots. The sentiments are from one of my favorite Hero Arts stamp sets - 'Sending Smiles Messages'. The white cardstock still needed a little something, so I drew a black frame around the perimeter. I'm very happy with the results and loved how fast and easy these were to make.

Summer Card Class - Week 2

I am loving this Summer Card Class. The color combinations are so much fun to play with. I interpreted this weeks colors to include PTI's Summer Sunrise, Orange Zest, Pure Poppy, Simply Chartreuse, and New Leaf.

I used one of my favorite Hero Arts stamps and Tuxedo Black Momento Ink. I colored the poppies with my Copics and bordered the strip with PTI's Eyelet Lace Border die. I cut the eyelet lace in half and adhered each half to the sides of my focal piece. The sentiment is also Hero Arts. I added little rhinestones under the sentiment to finish it off. I colored a clear rhinestone with a Copic marker to get the red one. This was the first time I had tried that trick and will definitely be doing that again--so easy! Thanks for stopping by!

Summer Card Class- Week 1

Well, here it is the end of the week and I'm just now getting my card posted for the week. I really enjoyed using the color combo this week. Initially I was unsure about that orange, but I think it worked out pretty well. I decided to create a simple birthday card that I can keep in my stash.

I interpreted the colors to include PTI's Plum Pudding, Raspberry Fizz, Aqua Mist, Orange Zest. I used PTI's Simple Circles along with the coordinating die for the border. The sentiment is Sending Smiles Messages from Hero Arts. Impression Plate is By the Numbers from PTI (I LOVE using this on birthday cards). And the twine is from The Twinery. I have had the twine for a while and have been hoarding it because it is so pretty. Finally decided to use it and I love the little bit of texture it adds.

I'm so glad I decided to participate in this class. We've been so busy lately, I haven't created anything for weeks. This gave me a little boost I needed to sit and make something. I really ended up liking this color combo too and have added it to my color binder. Will probably use it again in the future. Thanks for looking!
