SAF Handmade Embellishments

http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/.a/6a00d8341c64e753ef0177437a646d970d-pi
I was intrigued by Danielle Flanders tutorial on making your own washi tape.  I have so much patterned paper and love the look of washi -- this is a great idea to make washi to match your project.

I had a hard time deciding which papers to use, so I went a little crazy and made 9 strips of colorful washi. They look so cool as transparent tapes!  I ended up just using 4 little pieces, and now have lots more to use in the future.

The colors are Spring Moss and Plum Pudding. I used the Sunshine Impression Plate on the PP cardstock. I also scored borders for the sentiment to add a little texture and interest.  Thanks for looking!

SAF Tie-Dye Technique Challenge

Next up--Tie Dye! I used the Copics Tie-Dye technique. This turned out to be so easy and fun.  All you need are a couple of Copics, some rubbing alcohol, and a small paintbrush.  Next time I do this, though, I will saturate the circles with a little more rubbing alcohol.

My daughter was most impressed by this technique and card. I'm definitely going to save this card and give it to her for a special occasion.  I've also decided that this technique would work VERY well for my kids' friends' birthday cards. It's fun, funky, easy, and fast--just what I need for 10year old boys and 8 year old girls cards.

SAF Limited Supply Challenge #2

http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/.a/6a00d8341c64e753ef0177437a646d970d-pi
Yup! I'm back with another Limited Supply Challenge.  I had this card almost finished when I realized there wasn't a sentiment in Rosie Posie to add to the tag. Well, I liked the finished card well enough, I decided to post it and when I get ready to mail it, I will add a relevent sentiment.

The specific supplies to be used included:
  • STAMPS: Natural Beauties only (or another floral set as a substitute if needed)
  • PAPER: Stamper's Select White, Hawaiian Shores, Aqua Mist, Simply Chartreuse
  • RIBBON: Hawaiian Shores Bitty Dot
  • BUTTONS: Simply Chartreuse
  • As many or few inks as preferred
  • May also add any dies, glitter, or twine

I used the Rosie Posie Stamp Set along with the Tag Sale #5 Die and the Woodgrain Impression Plate.  The Woodgrain IP is one of my favorites -- it gives beautiful texture and detail.

Time for the Limited Supply Challenge!

I had planned on using my Rosie Posie Stamp Set, but decided not to since it had no sentiments (I realized this after I was done with the card and ready to add the sentiment). I opted for the Life stamp set. I also used the Mat Stack #4 die, Layerz die, and the Linen and Canvas Impression Plate.  I think  I will finish the Rosie Posie card using a Happy Birthday sentiment from another set.  Not sure if I will post it--we'll see how the rest of the day goes.

SAF Ribbon Technique Challenge

Ribbon technique challenge:  I'm hoping to get to a couple of these today. Loved them all! I started with Erin Lincoln's Twill Ribbon Challenge.  This was so fun and turned out so cute-- I see myself using this technique a lot. I used PTI Enchanted Evening and Pure Poppy twill ribbon. I've always liked this type of ribbon, but I think I will need to add more to my collection because it is so easy to use.

SAF Make-n-Take

http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/.a/6a00d8341c64e753ef01761699a1cc970c-pi
Good morning! I was up bright and early this morning to get coffee going and start on the Make-n-Take.  I didn't get it finished before the Ribbon Challenges started, but am pretty proud of myself for getting it done before 8am! :)

I don't have the Natural Beauties stamp set yet, so I used All About You and Turning a New Leaf for the card.  I added a bit of Copic coloring to the flower leaves to get the Raspberry Fizz color. I'm surprised at how fast and easy this was! Now it's time to watch some ribbon challenge videos and keep on stamping. I sure hope the kids are okay with hot dogs for lunch! :)

Papertrey Ink Stamp-A-Faire 2012

http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/.a/6a00d8341c64e753ef0177436c3201970d-pi

I'm all ready for Stamp-A-Faire! Unfortunately, I'm not traveling anywhere or meeting up with any friends.  My husband and oldest son are away at Cub Scout camp this weekend, so my daughter, youngest son, and I will be partying it up in our craft room.

The extent of my prepping was getting this room somewhat organized so we could find everything we need tomorrow.    The kids have their own table in the corner and will be able to stamp, paint, color, cut, etc in their own space.  We are looking forward to a fun filled day of videos, forum chats, and blog hopping! Happy Camping!
